Little Wonders mission is to touch the lives of each family in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or Special Care Nursery in a positive, lasting way and to offer the best support network and information for the parents and families who have experienced a difficult pregnancy, premature birth, the loss of a baby, or have a child with additional needs within John Hunter Children’s Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
Little Wonders is a not for profit organisation that provides parent to parent emotional support, resources and information to the parents and families of John Hunter Children’s Hospital. Little Wonders does not provide medical advice or services. All medical questions and decisions about choices should be discussed with the staff of John Hunter Children’s Hospital or your local GP.
Our Website is currently under Construction!! Please check in regularly to see the site as we build a wonderful support tool for the parents and families of John Hunter Children's Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Little Wonders is a newly formed support group of parents that have come together to offer the parents of John Hunter Children's Hospital additional tools and resources to help them on the their NICU/SCN roller coaster ride and after they have transitioned home. Little Wonders were given the official "go Ahead' to help support the parents in August 2007 and we hope to build a very supportive membership to offer friendship and support through the tough times, be there for the good times and help celebrate every milestone conquered both before, during and after parents and families have given birth to their Little Wonders.
The birth of a premature or sick newborn baby is a journey few are aware of unless they are faced with the overwhelming experience. The joy of giving birth is often coupled with fear, guilt, loneliness and anger. A helpless baby confronts every part of your belief system and challenges every aspect of your life. Little Wonders hopes to help parents grasp these feelings so they understand they are not alone and can lean on those of us who have been on the roller coaster ride previously.
Little Wonders is made up of parents of premature and sick newborn babies dedicated to helping parents and families in John Hunter Children’s Hospital NICU/ SCN. We came together because we all knew what it was like to fall through the looking glass and land in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and we wanted to help support others through this traumatic experience.
“After five premature babies I thought I would be somewhat prepared for each birth but I was immediately humbled. I soon realised each baby although they were premature they were very different. Each baby had there own set of medical issues and each journey had its own unique circumstances. I had a lot of knowledge from each baby after spending months within NICU learning about the different conditions and terminology, I also had support from my family and friends but I found there were very little resources that I needed to help with the rollercoaster ride I took both in NICU and after we transitioned home.” Cassandra Malone - Founding member
